Bacik adds voice to calls for thorough investigation into Epstein Irish links

20 February 2026

Labour leader Ivana Bacik TD said the Taoiseach cannot delay an investigation into any Irish links in the Epstein files.

Labour’s spokesperson on Foreign Affairs Duncan Smith TD wrote to the Taoiseach on February 5th calling for an interrogation into the documents, yet no action has been taken by Government.

Deputy Bacik said:

“The actions of Jeffrey Epstein and all those who engaged with him are horrific and debased and the strength and courage of survivors in coming forward to take on this cabal of pedophilia and corruption has been incredible. I have a clear message to any survivor of any abuse: The Labour Party stand with you.

“I met with Lisa Phillips in Dublin last week, to hear directly from Lisa about her own experiences of Epstein. I committed to her to continue pursuing the issue at a political level, building on the advocacy and urgency of Deputy Smith.

“I will be asking the Taoiseach next week to release all files related to Ireland and Epstein – redacted to protect victims and survivors. We need to know what activities of Epstein were carried out in Ireland, and call out his network of abusers.

“Yesterday was a seismic day seeing the arrest of Andrew Windsor. No perpetrator should be exempt from facing up to their role in abuse. The Irish Government must also press the British Government for release of all Epstein files there.”
