Bacik urges Taoiseach to open investigation into Epstein Irish links
16 April 2026
Following a meeting with Epstein survivor Lisa Phillips in London today, Labour Party leader Ivana Bacik TD has reiterated her calls to Government to open an investigation into any Epstein links in Ireland.
Deputy Bacik said:
“Today I met with Lisa Phillips, a survivor of Epstein’s abuse, in London to call for thorough investigations into the abuse carried out by Epstein. I am reiterating my call to the Taoiseach to open an investigation into Epstein’s multiple trips to Ireland.
“It beggars belief that the Taoiseach has been so slow to take action to investigate any Irish links that may be contained in the Epstein files. Labour’s foreign affairs spokesperson Duncan Smith TD wrote to the Taoiseach with this request in February, yet we have seen no action coming from this Government.
“The actions of Jeffrey Epstein and all those who were involved with his global criminal enterprise were horrific and debased and the strength and courage of survivors in coming forward to take on this cabal of pedophilia and corruption has been incredible. I have a clear message to any survivor of abuse: The Labour Party stands with you.
“There must be justice for survivors of sexual violence. Perpetrators must be made accountable for their actions.”
