Dublin University graduates have a proud record of electing articulate, passionate and radical candidates to represent them in the Seanad. Outstanding former Senators such as Mary Robinson and Mary Henry have used the Seanad as a vital platform to make valuable contributions to important debates on national and international issues. I am deeply honoured to have been given the opportunity to carry on their work, and would like to pay a particular tribute to outgoing Senator Mary Henry. I hope to continue the work that she and others have done in campaigning for a radical social agenda during the lifetime of this Seanad.
